Live interpreting for phone calls

Every call,
in your own language.

You speak. They hear it in their language a moment later, and their answer comes back in yours. The person on the other end just picks up an ordinary phone.

How it works

No interpreter to book.
No app for them to install.

  1. 01

    Choose two languages

The one you speak and the one they speak. Uzbek and English, Arabic and French, Hindi and German: any pair.

  2. 02

    Dial from your browser

Enter their number and call. When they answer, they hear a short note, in their language, that an interpreter is on the line.

  3. 03

    Just talk

Speak naturally. Each of you hears the other in your own language a moment later, with captions of both as you go.

Models

Every live translation model.
One phone call.

Speko Translate runs on the Speko Router, which carries the live speech-translation models from Google, OpenAI and Alibaba behind one connection. Choose one yourself, or leave it on Auto and we pick for you and switch to the next model if one can’t start your call.

OpenAI

Realtime Translate

OpenAI’s streaming speech-to-speech translation model, with live captions of both sides.

Alibaba

Qwen LiveTranslate

Qwen’s real-time interpreter. Understands 60 languages and speaks 29 of them.

Speko

Auto

Starts on the best model for your call and falls back to the next one in seconds if a provider fails. You never hear the switch as silence.

Questions

Good to know.

Does the person I call need anything?

No. They answer an ordinary call on a mobile or a landline. All of the interpreting happens on our side.

Will they know an interpreter is on the line?

Yes. When they pick up, they hear a short note in their own language that the call is interpreted by AI. Conversations go better when both sides know.

How quickly does it translate?

Speko Translate starts translating while the speaker is still talking, and the translation usually lands a couple of seconds behind them. Short pauses help, just as they would with a human interpreter.

Which numbers can I call?

Any number in the United States and Canada. More countries are on the way.

Can I choose the translation model?

Yes. Pick Gemini, OpenAI or Qwen before each call, or leave it on Auto. Auto starts on Gemini, which covers the most languages, and moves to the next model if one fails to start.

Are calls recorded?

If you want them to be. With recording on, each call is saved with its transcript, and the other person hears at the start, in their language, that the call is recorded. Turn it off any time in Settings.

How does billing work?

You add credit in advance. Each call costs $0.09 a minute, billed by the second from the moment you dial, ringing included. If your credit is about to run out, Speko Translate warns you a minute before the call ends.

Should I wear headphones?

If you can. Otherwise your microphone may pick up the translated voice from your speakers.

Say it in your words.
Be understood in theirs.
